Strategic partnership on the move – MOLL-MOTOR and Innomotics intensify cooperation

The long-standing partnership between MOLL-MOTOR and Innomotics has reached a new level with the latest technical training course. On 24 September 2025, a full-day training course was held with a total of 20 participants, eleven of whom were from MOLL-MOTOR. The venue was Siemens City in Vienna, where Innomotics, a spun-off former Siemens motor division, is also based as an independent company. The content covered current developments in drive technology, practical selection criteria and digital tools for product design.

Innomotics was acquired a year ago by the investment company KPS Capital Partners, and since then the company has been in a noticeable phase of realignment. Structures shaped by the group are gradually being transformed into an independently operating, medium-sized company, which also means that cooperation with partner companies is changing. The intensive training day in Vienna was an expression of this change.

Thematic focus

The event kicked off with specialist presentations on permanent magnet motors in the IE5 efficiency class, which dealt not only with the technology but also with the question of how they can be retrofitted to existing systems and in which specific applications they offer particular benefits. In the further course, the focus was on explosion-proof three-phase motors (ATEX), in particular their behavior in inverter operation, as well as suitable options for forced ventilation and higher efficiency classes up to IE4. Another block was dedicated to the combination of compact permanent magnet motors and explosion-proof motors with gearboxes, which is technically guaranteed by a new adapter variant.

The afternoon was dedicated to the Innomotics configurator– both for classic IEC standard motors (1LE1/1LE5) and in conjunction with drive simulations. MOLL-MOTOR employees, who use it on a daily basis, regularly make suggestions for improvements, which are quickly implemented by Innomotics. Finally, the sales and after-sales experts from MOLL-MOTOR and Innomotics discussed other digital tools such as MEPS, Evaluate and the web store. They discussed the extent to which customers can be supported in the selection, ordering and identification of spare parts, and how self-service offers are perceived by customers as added value.

Cooperation on a technical and organizational level

The training not only offered space for knowledge transfer, but also for the exchange of organizational experiences. Innomotics provided insight into internal procedures and decision-making processes, while MOLL-MOTOR contributed suggestions for improvement from sales and service practice. Both sides are committed to further development with the aim of dovetailing technical expertise and customer orientation even more closely.

Prospects for the partnership

MOLL-MOTOR has been an authorized partner for Siemens and Innomotics motors for around 25 years. Today, the strategic cooperation covers the entire product range from standard motors and explosion-proof drives to speed-controlled drives. The exchange in Vienna was the prelude to transferring the closer integration from the product level to the process level. After the end of the technical part, the open discussions were continued at a joint get-together.

MOLL-MOTOR will continue to support the path of transformation at Innomotics in order to jointly exploit new opportunities on the market.
