Technical centerpiece: permanent magnet synchronous motor and bevel gearbox
At the heart of the implemented solution are high-precision BMD servo motors from Bonfiglioli, based on permanent magnet synchronous technology. They offer particularly high power density and dynamics. The combination with an absolute encoder is crucial for applications with complex motion profiles. In the current case, they have been equipped with space heater to ensure safe operation even at low temperatures.
They are complemented by compact A-series bevel gearboxes, which enable efficient 90° force transmission in a small installation space. This combination of gearbox and servomotor is ideal for precise motion sequences with medium to high torque requirements – a cost-effective alternative to solutions with low-backlash planetary gearboxes, without compromising on performance.

Intelligent control via PROFINET
The drive system is controlled via modern frequency inverters from the ACU series with PROFINET interface, also from Bonfiglioli. Seamless integration into the higher-level PLC structure enables simple integration and precise real-time communication. For OEMs, this means less wiring work, more flexibility in system control and a future-proof solution in accordance with the latest communication standards.
